Recovery continues at a s-l-o-w pace. The antibiotics I am taking for the infection have given me a case of the runs. What next! I am trying to remain positive but at times it is difficult. I've been so bored and antsy that yesterday I actually googled "Things to do when you are housebound" Also I had my husband drive me around the block for a change of scenery and fresh air. The most difficult thing for me is, at times, believing that I will get better. It seems like every time I turn around something else comes up that slows down my recovery. My mantra continues to be "It could be worse"

I will begin with telling the whole story. I have always had problems with my right hip but just chalked it up to arthritis which runs in my family. The pain came and went but was not debilitating until spring of 2012. At that point the pain became constant. After a trip to my GP, an x-ray, MRI, trip to the orthopedic surgeon, trip to the orthopedic oncologist, and a second trip to the surgeon I decided to go ahead with hip replacement surgery. This was in late June. Unfortunately my surgery was scheduled for August 29th :(. I had my hip replaced on the 29th and headed home on the 31st. All went well and I felt pretty good. At about 4am I woke up to use the bathroom and dislocated my hip. Worst pain I have ever felt in my life. Went to the emergency room. I had to be put under and in the operating room because they could not get it back in. Headed home on the 4th of September with a HUGE brace to help keep my hip in place. It didn't work. Sitting at my dining room table I shifted in my chair and it popped out again!! This time I had to be opened back up to correct the position of my implant. Apparently my anatomy is bizarre. I've always known that my hips rotate further in than they do out. I had to stay in the hospital for a longer period of time because I developed an infection and had to have a PICC line put in so that I could get intravenous antibiotics at home. Also I passed out the other day. The EMTS came but fortunately I did not have to go to the hospital.
So now I am home and going a little crazy!
